My baby boy is already 4 months old, a whole third of a year has disappeared in a blink of an eye.
Parenthood has been a huge adjustment and has definitely tested my patience. Being a Mum to three under 4 has been challenging at the best of times. It has felt a little daunting knowing I’m completely in charge of keeping Hugo content all day and the other two happy. Trying to divide my attention between the three of them can feel so overwhelming but I feel so lucky and thankful.
Moving on.. Hugo is growing so fast and is getting stronger everyday. He can now hold his head up and has started rolling over. He first started rolling over at 15 weeks old. He’s always full of smiles and constantly gigging, he has a personality way bigger than he is, I can only imagine what the next few months will be like.
Hugo is now really trying to discover the world around him, always grabbing and reaching for things. One thing he has also discovered is his feet, he’s always grabbing his feet and putting them in his mouth.
I haven’t had Hugo weighed since he was 10 weeks old but it’s clear that he is growing well. He’s now in 3-6 months clothes, has chunky little leg rolls and wears a size 2 nappy which I’m always changing which is also a good sign.
I think Hugo is most certainly teething at the moment too, he has become very dribbly lately and constantly gnawing on his little hands but luckily he doesn’t seem in too much discomfort, nothing that Mamas booby milk can’t fix.
As for sleeping, Hugo is sleeping through the night and has been for quite a while. There are some occasions where he’ll wake during the night but it’s mostly the early hours of the morning and I’ll bring him into bed with me and go back to sleep as I’m feeding him.
I have been taking Hugo to a baby sensory class every week since he was 8 weeks old and he absolutely loves it. The teacher is absolutely fabulous and there’s a different theme every week. Hugo loves all the songs and looking at all the lights and the bubbles.
It’s sad to think that in only two months time he’ll be old enough to start weaning, I’m looking forward to that part as we had lots of fun doing Baby led weaning with Teddy, and I intend to do it again with Hugo. But of course I will also be looking out for all other signs that he is ready to wean and not just start because he’s reached a certain age. As they say, ‘food before One is just for fun’ and I couldn’t agree more.
